Tickets to an afternoon tea hosted by the Chilterns MS Centre and attended by the mayor have sold like hotcakes.

The last handful of tickets for the annual fundraising event – in aid of the Mayor of Dacorum Allan Lawson’s charity of the year – were sold this morning.

The old-fashioned soiree, to be held at Shendish Manor on September 7, is set to be a success with the Mayor’s guests and those who’ve bought tickets through the Bucks-based centre already taking the event to full capacity.

The charity supports people from the three counties area with the degenerative condition multiple sclerosis, including 55 sufferers from Dacorum.

Chief executive Robert Breakwell said: “I am pleased to see we have a large number of disabled people attending this year, which Shendish Manor has been very helpful with.

“We really want it to be very nice weather on the day, as with so many guests it would be nice to spill outdoors as well!

“We’re really pleased with the success of it so far – we don’t know yet how much it will raise but all funds will go directly to supporting people with MS.”
