Mental health unit decision

Proposals to create an inpatient mental health unit in Hemel Hempstead are due to be discussed by planners tomorrow (Thursday).

A meeting of Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee is expected to give the go-ahead to the scheme at Slippers Hill off Queensway in Highfield.

The St Paul’s unit currently offers day care services but the plan is to turn it into an 18-bedded inpatient facility.

Fifteen letters of complaint have been submitted but a report says the proposal ‘would not have a significant adverse impact on the residential amenities of surrounding properties in terms of privacy, overlooking, safety or noise’.
