A MUSICAL showcase was hosted by a good cause to thank the borough’s mayor for his support.
The event was topped off with Roger Taylor leading a rendition of Abba’s Thank You For The Music.
The showcase, held on Saturday at JFK School in Hemel Hempstead by Community Action Dacorum, involved eight different performance groups.
It was put on to thank Mr Taylor for choosing CAD as his charity for the year.
The charity has held a monthly fundraising event in Mr Taylor’s name during his term in office and decided to make the final get together in his and mayoress Sue Geraghty’s honour.
Loretta Anderson, from CAD, said: “It was a really great evening.
“We presented the mayor with an album with pictures of every event, posters and newspaper cuttings.”
With Mr Taylor’s help the charity, which acts as an umbrella organisation to support voluntary and community groups across the borough, has raised £27,793 during the last year.
Mr Taylor said: “It was a privilege to see talent from the borough entertaining a packed hall. The whole evening went exceptionally well. I was very grateful for all the effort that went into a lovely evening.”
A new Dacorum Mayor will be appointed at the borough’s annual meeting next Wednesday.
