FOOD hampers were hand delivered to homes by Dacorum’s Mayor Gillian Chapman.
The borough’s first lady helped prepare packages of goodies to help ensure that needy people did not go without over the festive season.
Councillor Chapman, pictured left hauling packs ready for delivery, turned up at The Dacorum Food Bank on Christmas Eve to offer volunteers a helping hand.
She helped assemble 70 hampers consisting of tinned and dry foods, Christmas produce and fresh foods including turkey, chickens, sausages, bacon, fruit and vegetables.
The mayor then hopped into her chauffeur driven car to deliver some of the hampers.
Councillor Chapman was one of a team of more than 20 drivers who distributed food parcels across the borough.
Organiser David Greenwood said: “I have this picture of the mayor in her chain of office turning up in her limousine to deliver a hamper to unsuspecting individuals.”
He added: “We are particularly indebted to Ocado who gave the fresh food and Vango Van Hire who generously lent a vehicle to collect the food from Hatfield.”
