Marathon man Matthew Loddy is on the road again after setting out on his latest challenge – to complete 30 marathons in just 30 days.

Matthew, who completed 100 marathons in 100 days last year, set off from Edinburgh to Falkirk on Saturday as he aims to raise money and awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The 47-year-old will run through Scotland, Wales and England before completing his fundraising mission at the London Marathon on April 21.

After arriving in Falkirk on Saturday, the Kings Langley man made his way to Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children in his second marathon of the week on Sunday.

He then hotfooted it to Carluke on Monday, before finishing at Newcastle on Tuesday. Today, Wednesday, will see him run from Newcastle to Hartlepool.

Matthew has been tackling bitterly cold weather conditions since the start of his challenge, as well as nursing a back injury which kept him out of training for three weeks prior to the start of his epic journey.

After Sunday’s run, Matthew said: “I didn’t think today could be colder than yesterday – but it was!

“The easterly wind was going straight through my thermals, but luckily at my back. “
