A campaign has been launched to help get a homeless man off the streets before colder weather sets in.

University student Jessica Davies is behind an online Go Fund Me bid after meeting Tony in Hemel Hempstead’s Water Gardens car park.

The 23-year-old, who is due to graduate in IT next month, said: “I work at the O2 shop in the town centre so I park my car there everyday and I ended up stumbling across Tony.

“I gave him some money and I see him everyday.

“Anybody could be in that position and I would like to think if I was in that position someone would help me.”

It is thought that Tony, aged around 50 and originally from Tottenham, has been homeless for around five months.

He previously suffered from alcohol addiction but has overcome this following a spell in rehab and requires medication for a condition that causes fluid on his brain.

Jessica is not the only person who is helping Tony; her colleagues also take him food and have given him a pay-as-you go mobile phone, which they charge and keep topped up.

But homeless Tony recently became the victim of thugs who kicked him and stole his belongings including two suitcases, medication, sleeping bags, clothes and shoes.

Jessica, of Adeyfield, said: “He had a massive cut on his nose and his eye was blood shot.

“He said a group of teenagers kicked him and took his things.”
