A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
If you love singing and enjoy the company of older people, why not join the Alzheimers Society as a ‘singing for the brain’ volunteer?
This is a relaxed and friendly group activity which brings the joy and stimulation of singing to those with memory problems associated with dementia.
As a volunteer there are lots of ways to get involved including meeting and greeting members, helping with refreshments, setting up and clearing away as well as joining in with the singing.
The group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm to 3.30pm at St George’s Church, Long Chaulden. Training and expenses are offered.
Age UK Dacorum need volunteers for two exciting new roles, both will make a difference to the lives of older people in their own special way.
This home grown charity is looking for one or two strong willed and tenacious folk who can become fundraising group leaders.
The right volunteer will have the skills and leadership qualities to turn a group of willing volunteers into a highly motivated team of fundraising superstars.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn some new skills and have a great time. Full support and lots of resources are on offer from the Age UK team.
The charity is also seeking a gifted entertainer, with a talent to share, who could brighten up the lives of older people. If you could sing, dance, play an instrument, tell a joke or even lead a sing-along,
Age UK would love to hear from you.
The charity hosts a number of tea clubs at council-supported housing schemes in Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley Berkhamsted and Tring where you would be invited to share your special talent.
Expenses are available for both roles. To find out more visit the website or call 01442 247209
