Postcards of scenes from around Dacorum designed to promote the borough have been taken across the globe by adventurous holidaymakers.

People were tasked with taking the postcards with them on trips to unique and interesting places anywhere in the UK or abroad for a competition which formed part of the Dacorum: Look No Further promotion.

More than 70 people entered the travel contest led by Dacorum Borough Council through the new Dacorum Tourism Partnership, which has 54 members.

A spokesman said: “We received some amazing entries with the postcards travelling as far as Australia, New Zealand and even Hollywood.”

Overall 19 people won prizes. The top three entries included Yvonne Richards for her Turkish Dalyan mud bath snap. She won a voucher for Berkhamsted Golf Club.

A family ski or snowboarding lesson at Hemel Hempstead’s Snow Centre went to Kate Smethers for her picture at San Francisco Bay’s notorious Alcatraz prison and Jenny Fallon bagged an all day family pass at the XC for her snap taken at Land’s End in Cornwall.
