Demolition work at Gadebridge Baptist Church is complete and now contractors are getting on with laying foundations for the five houses that will take its place.

Once this is done Lansberry Ltd will lay down the foundations for the new church in Galley Hill, Hemel Hempstead.

The construction firm started work last month and hopes to complete the church ahead of the 12-month deadline.

“We are hoping to get it done before Christmas,” said boss Nick Bareham.

“The houses are on a 10-month contract so they should be completed in November.”

Original plans had been to retain part of the church but Nick said: “It was better to knock the church down and start again so that it is all up to standard.”
