A police raid on a Berkhamsted pub has seen one man charged and another cautioned for class A drug offences.

A warrant was carried out at The George in the town’s High Street at around 5.30pm on Thursday by officers from the Hemel Hempstead-based tactical team.

Alan Clark, 57, who lives in the same road as the pub, has been charged with the supply of, and possession with intent to supply cocaine. He was remanded in custody following an appearance at Hatfield Remand Court on Saturday and will appear in St Albans Crown Court on January 24.

A second man, aged 43 and from Berkhamsted, was cautioned for possession of class A drugs in connection with the investigation.

The raid follows a series of warrants by police aiming to crack down on drug lords in Dacorum.

Dacorum Chief Insp Glen Channer said: “This warrant follows a long running investigation into the suspected drugs supply at The George pub.

“Every public house in Dacorum has a responsibility to ensure they are operating within their licence and not engaging in criminal activity. Where we have information about suspected breaches or unlawful activity, we will do all in our power to investigate and take action where necessary.”
