A carer in the running for a top award found out that she had narrowly missed out on the accolade during a glitzy awards ceremony on Friday night.
Carer Sophie Rollinson from Hemel Hempstead’s Mountbatten Lodge was shortlisted in the care home worker category of the Great East of England Care Awards.
But she was not picked to go on to the national finals in London.
Spokesman for Quantum Care, which runs Mountbatten Lodge, Sarah Webber said: “We are all very proud of her and it was a really lovely evening.”
The annual awards aim to promote good work within both home care and care homes and pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
The Old Crabtree Lane care home has recently been given a clean bill of health by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission after a surprise inspection earlier this year found it to be failing on seven national standards.
