Police and crime commissioner David Lloyd will be resigning his seat on Dacorum Borough Council in order to give more time to his county-wide commitments.

He will no longer be responsible for the Watling ward, covering Great Gaddesden, Flamstead and Markyate, after next week.

Commissioner Lloyd said: “I want to save the tax-payer money by holding a by-election on the same day as county elections, and I do not want people to think I am partial to one borough as PCC.”

He hopes to be returned as the county councillor for Bridgewater in the May elections.
