CELEBRATIONS lie ahead for Berkhamsted’s Royal British Legion, which is both celebrating its 90th birthday and a merger with neighbouring Tring in the weeks to come.

Music and a new plaque at its High Street base will mark the official merger on June 4.

Army and air cadets will celebrate its anniversary on June 12.

And a giant cake, left, will be raffled off to raise cash for the club.

Its vice-chairman Jim Wright said: “I have been with the Legion for 29 years and it has changed a lot.

“We do not get so many people now. They think you cannot join if you have not been a member of the forces – but anybody can join.”
