Hemel Hempstead’s volunteer centre is launching an appeal for more wool donations amid fears they will have to start rationing.
Volunteer services support officer Liz King said: “At the moment, we are only getting wool in drips and drabs.
“We may have to ration it to some of the ladies who come in to knit on a voluntary basis, because at the moment we don’t have anything for them.”
The centre is looking for mainly double knitting wool but would also happily accept arran or chunky knit. The finished items are sent around the world.
Liz added: “Anybody that’s having a spring clear out may want to drop in their leftover wool at the Roundhouse in Marlowes.”
