Join us in backing school's £1.3million sports plan
The Gazette is backing a school's £1.3million fundraising drive to improve sports facilities in Berkhamsted.
Ashlyns School is raising cash for a full-size football pitch and changing block for school and community use which will be named after 17-year-old Nick Walsh- a former pupil at school who died suddenly of a brain haemorrhage in 2007.
With few sporting facilities in the town, The Gazette has pledged its support to the project, dubbed BerkoAstro, and every business or organisation that does the same will feature in The Berkhamsted and Tring Gazette.
They will also be loaded on to www.berkhamstedtoday.co.uk and will have links to their own websites uploaded.
Businesses that cannot afford to make cash donations but can offer a service such as leaflet printing or raffle prizes will also get a mention.
The Gazette editor Adam Hollier said: "Berkhamsted has woefully inadequate sports facilities. The community and youth of the town deserve better.
"We are supporting this campaign and urge the community to do the same. "
