In the same week that the Welsh assembly voted to bring in an opt-out organ donation system the HeraldExpress is launching a campaign to get people to sign up to the register.
Wales will be the first UK country to adopt a scheme where people will be presumed to have consented for their organs to be donated unless they opt out – and it could set the ball rolling for the rest of the UK to follow suit.
But in the meantime the HeraldExpress and its sister paper the Gazet te arecalling on the people of Dacorum to sign up to the register.
There are almost 8,000 people waiting for organ transplants in the UK and three die every day while waiting for their life-changing operation.
The HeraldExpress team will be in the Marlowes Shopping Centre on Saturday to promote the Organ Donor Register and you will find them close to Mothercare.
