A DANISH man is encouraging young scouts and guides to get a taste of life in his home country, urging local groups to sign up to the Danish Jamboree and possibly help set a world record for the largest event of its kind.

Ole Bo Andersen, right, says the event, from July 21 to 29, is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn about different cultures.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to join an international jamboree when participants from all over the world will come together and over 10 days enjoy friendship, do a lot of activities and have fun.

“You will come back with fantastic memories.”

Ole, 43, who lives in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, worked his way up the scouting ranks and is now the chairman of the committee for international and external participants in the Jamboree Denmark 2012.

The camp fee for the event, which includes food and activities, costs £200. Travel to the country is not included.

There will also be an opportunity to stay with a Danish family to get an insight into their way of life.

Ole is happy to visit scout and guide groups to speak about the event and can be contacted on 07734254911, email oba@jamboreedenmark2012.dk or visit www.2012jamboree.dk
