A campaign has been launched to give a helping hand to a floundering garden creature made a family favourite by children’s writer Beatrix Potter.

People in Tring are being urged to complete a hedgehog survey to help guage how many of the prickly creatures visit our gardens.

Vicky Duxbuxy from Tring in Transition, which is leading the survey, said: “It’s a species of wildlife that is important for biodiveristy and the balance of wildlife in our gardens.”

The environment group plans to promote ways people can help hedgehogs through national campaign Hedgehog Street.

Complete the survey before the end of November at www.tringintransition.org.uk/19.html.
