Jean Delisle : Memorial
JEAN DELISLE In loving memory It is with sadness that I have to write this memorial to someone who was my rock and without the love, support and sheer doggedness, I would not have had the life that I have. Jean deLisle was born in Aldbury above the antique shop, growing up there with her brother and younger sister. She worked her entire life within the Berkhamsted area starting out at Aitchisons estate agency and then Clumbery Press, becoming secretary to Mr Rose. She later worked for the Wellcome Foundation where she was employed within the Personnel Department organising outings, meetings and all needs for the pensioners. She had been happily married to Peter for 61 years. In later life my mother took up writing and though never having attained ‘great’ success, was nonetheless very proud of her interesting account of Berkhamsted, called ‘ A Town in the Country’, which was sold modestly through Waterstones Bookshop. My mother will be sadly missed. A wake will be held at the Greyhound in Aldbury at 16.30pm on Wednesday the 23rd of January to celebrate the life of my mother Jean deLisle. All of her friends and work acquaintances are invited to attend.
