It’s what the holidays are for!

What a great time to test out some new playground equipment – right in the middle of the Easter holidays.

That’s the treat children got on Thursday in Butts Meadow, Berkhamsted, courtesy of Dacorum Borough Council.

The state-of-the-art equipment included play panels for younger children like shapes and number mazes, basket style swings and climbing apparatus.

The equipment has also been installed at playgrounds in Coronation Fields, Bennetts End, Hyde Lane, Bovingdon, Jocketts Field, Chaulden and Warners End Valley, Gadebridge.

The equipment will be launched in Lagley Meadow, Berkhamsted, from 1pm tomorrow, in Lockers Park, Boxmoor, from 11am on Friday, and in Miswell Lane, Tring from 11am on Saturday.

Councillor Julie Laws, who oversees environmental services and sustainablity, said: “We are trying to make it even easier for children to get active and make the most of the great facilities and green spaces we have in the borough.

“I hope families will get a lot of enjoyment out of them.”

Fun for all the family was on offer during two events to keep youngsters entertained during the school break.

Last Wednesday children got to take part in an Easter egg hunt at the Link Family Services Centre, based within the grounds of Hemel Hempstead’s Hobletts Manor Junior School.

The centre, which offers support to families with children that attend schools within the Hemel Hempstead area, also hosted a Spring Family Fun Event yesterday at Maple Grove Primary School in St Agnells Lane.

PCSO Mark Pattinson said: “It is to make sure the kids have got something to do. It gives us a chance to interact with the kids and meet with the parents as well.”

The next session is today (Wednesday) at the school in Fletcher Way between midday and 2pm and is open to anyone over the age of eight.

PCSO Pattinson also runs a similar after-school club there during term time.
