THE final countdown has begun to this year’s fundraising Midnight Walk.

The pair have teamed up for the sponsored event, being held on Saturday, June 30, when walkers will complete a five or 11-mile route.

Patrick, 69, of Hancroft Road, Hemel Hempstead, is walking in memory of his brother.

He pounded the pavement on his own last year.

However, this year he encouraged his grandson, a pupil at John F Kennedy School, to join him on the midnight marathon.

Patrick’s wife Mary is a volunteer receptionist at the Northchurch-based hospice.

He said: “I completed the walk last year on my own surrounded by lots of pink flashing bunny ears and ladies in tutus.

“This year I have roped in my grandson but will probably end up dragging him around the route.”
