‘It’s a nightmare’

PLANS for 1,000 extra homes, a new doctor’s surgery, pub, cafe, allotments, offices and bus service will be displayed next week.

The development will be across 97 acres of the Green Belt on the Haresfoot Estate in south Berkhamsted near Swing Gate Lane and Shootersway.

There will be new family homes, including affordable homes, and there will be a new east-west avenue from Chesham Road to Swing Gate Lane.

Land-owners Grand Union Investments also plan to install a new bus ‘loop’ between schools, Berkhamsted railway station and the High Street.

But Berkhamsted town councillors complain that the group aims to take its plan straight to the national planning inspectorate rather than going through Dacorum Borough Council.
