BERKHAMSTED Sports Centre Swimming Club had another fine night in the Herts under-14 Daplyn Trophy on Saturday.

The gala gave the youngsters a chance to gain county qualifying times and personal bests, and they took this opportunity in emphatic style.

Abbie Borwn and Jennifer Atwill led off in the 100 IM event, and both picked up PBs with Brown also lowering her CQT. Meanwhile, in the boys’ event, Hamish McCaig improved both his PB and CQT.

In the 50m backstroke events, Hannah Coulson picked up a CQT, while Emma Barnes, Jonny Warr and Tom Strakosch also swam well.

There was more success for the club’s representatives in the 50m breaststroke as Katie Shaw picked up a PB and Emily Kiernan recorded a CQT, while Jandre Nel and Ollie Hurst also both recorded PBs.

Jess Potts was another swimmer in sparkling form as she posted a two second improvement, while Katie Brown picked up the club’s sole win of the night. Christian Nel also swam well, and Kieran Elliff recorded his first of four PBs.

In the 50m freestyle, Aisha Cooper kept the club’s run of PBs going, while Ella Haas also performed credibly, and Sam Gray and Charlie Gray both improved their times.

The freestyle relays then saw Atwill, Coulson, Shaw and Potts team up, before Barnes, Katie and Abbie Brown and Haas took to the pool.

Charlie Gray, Weston, Hurst and Elliff were also in action together, as were Sam Gray, MacCaig, Christian Nel and Strakosch.

In the final event of the night, the medley relay, Cooper replaced Potts and Kiernan was drafted in place of Haas for the girls.
