The Hospice of St Francis has announced that record crowds attended its Ashridge Garden Party on Sunday.
This website reported earlier today that fine weekend weather brought large numbers of visitors to the Northchurch charity’s annual fundraiser.
It was a huge relief for event organiser Sarah Ajder after last year’s garden party was rained off.
She said: “We were absolutely amazed and overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of people who turned out to support us on what was a glorious afternoon of summer sunshine.
“It was wonderful to see the gardens so full of smiling, relaxed people enjoying themselves. From the hook a duck, bouncy castle and pirate treasure hunt activities for children to the stalls, cream teas and live music for adults, there was something for everyone.
“We’d like to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone for coming, to Ashridge House for hosting and to all the stallholders, hospice staff, trustees and volunteers for their support.”
The hospice is still counting the amount of visitors who came to the event, and the amount of money it raised.
Ashridge House marketing manager Dolores Kelly said: “We were delighted to host the hospice’s summer garden party again this year and thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout.
“It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying our beautiful gardens and supporting such an important local charity.
“Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers at the hospice for staging such a successful event.”
