A GRASS deckchair is among the works of art in a new display.

Breathing Space is being shown as part of the Up The Garden Path exhibition at The Upstairs Gallery in Berkhamsted High Street, which runs until Saturday, July 7.

Artist Jayne Wilton, who lives nearby, made the piece by stitching grass to a canvas.

She said: “My work is about getting people to look at things they know well in a different way.

“We all think we know the deck chair well – but what if it’s made of grass not fabric?

“In some areas, I want it to be slightly humorous – but in other areas, it is a serious piece about using natural products rather than plastics.”

There are also holes in her piece to show how we use deck chairs to relax and get some breathing space.
