Historic canal boat Ilkeston to moor at Hemel

Have your say

A 100-year-old historic horse-drawn narrow boat will stop off in Hemel Hempstead as part of an epic journey across England’s canal network.

Ilkeston, built in 1912, is en route to the London Canal Museum after being completely restored to her former glory at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

She will moor on the towpath by the Paper Mill pub in Apsely from 11am to 11.30am on Thursday, July 5, and will be welcomed to Hemel Hempstead by Councillor Brian Ayling, on behalf of Dacorum Mayor Bert Chapman.
