How’s this for a flash of community colour?

The new art has been donated to Florence Longman House in Apsley to decorate the residents’ communal lounge, thanks to the help of three PCSOs from Herts Police – Jake Smith, Jay Orr and Gemma Ball – with Sergeant Ryan Hemmings.

The pictures were chosen by the residents, with firms KallKwik and Wilkinsons donating picture frames and prints of the pictures for free.

PCSOs Smith and Orr said: “The residents of Florence Longman House are a wonderful group of older people who work together to fund raise though raffles, bingo and competitions for activities, outings and events for their fellow residents.

“The ladies also fundraise by knitting for local charities. We both felt that this is a great opportunity to give something back to the residents for all the hard work they have done for the community.

“Wilkinsons donated five picture frames to Florence Longman House so that residents could frame the photographs nicely to display on their walls. The manager of Wilkinsons was more than happy to help where he could with this local community project.”

Ethan from KallKwik added: “We were delighted to be able to help.”
