A free community event aims to give everyone a taste of what Hemel’s new look Marlowes has to offer.

Live @ New Town Square – which is on Saturday, September 26 between 10am and 5pm – kicks off with a movie screening of Disney’s Frozen on the recently installed big LED screen - nicknamed Town Square TV.

More children’s entertainment follows around the square – the most recent feature to be finished under the Hemel Evolution programme – including magic and balloon modelling with Mrs Marvella and face painting.

Hemel Hempstead entertainer Phil Perry will follow with close-up magic for all the family.

In the afternoon live music acts take to the new glass-canopied Rainbow Stage, featuring pop classics pop classics from Jocee and jazz pianist Derek Mander.

There will also be the opportunity to speak to members of Dacorum Borough Council’s Hemel Evolution team, who are responsible for the regeneration that has been transforming the area over the last year.

Councillor Graham Sutton, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration, said: “Everyone has been brilliant putting up with the disruption while we’ve been carrying out the improvements – so it’s wonderful to show people what it’s all been about.

“We’re not due to finish until the end of the year, but you can already see how Hemel Evolution has revitalised the town centre’s main shopping area and turned it into a great place to socialise.”
