Hemel Hempstead jobless get tips from a top politician

A member of the European Parliament gave tips on politics to jobless young people after they stood in a pretend election on Friday.

The members of Hemel Hempstead’s Princes Trust scheme for getting young people back into work, education or training were split into different parties before voting for the candidates they preferred.

The result was a tie between MP Is You and We Are The Youth – but Herts MEP Richard Howitt gave feedback to every party taking part.

The event in Swan Court, Waterhouse Street, Hemel Hempstead, was part of a 12-week team-building programme by the YMCA and Prince’s Trust.

Team leader Joe Oxley said: “This gives them an opportunity to realise how to make their situation better.”
