A group of 24 cyclists have raised more than £6,000 towards research into a cure for the life-limiting illness affecting a child they all adore.
Family and friends of four-year-old James Dodd, who has mitochondrial disease, rode from London to Brighton in aid of the Lily Foundation.
After the challenge, the group also presented James’ parents Iain and Angie, of Connaught Close, Hemel Hempstead, with a holiday to Rhodes. The trip, donated by Mark Warner Holidays, will help them make the most of their precious time with James.
Team captain and friend Penny Blake said: “We all enjoyed the day. Presenting the gift was a very emotional moment and everyone around us was cheering.”
The team will be repeating the ride in September. To sponsor them, visit justgiving.com/stupidp.
