Heaven knows she’s not Miserables now!

Award-winning production designer Eve Stewart spoke this week of her night with the stars, rubbing shoulders with Hollywood legends after winning a coveted Bafta honour.

Eve (above, right) was one of 10 people linked to blockbuster hit Les Miserables who received British Academy of Film and Television honours on Sunday.

The 51-year-old mother of two and fellow Les Miserables production designer Anna Lynch-Robinson beat off stiff competition from Life of Pi, Lincoln, Skyfall and Anna Karenina.

Eve said: “It took me a minute to realise I had won, because they said Les Miserables.

“Then my partner Leon McCarthy nudged me to get up and then I was delighted.

“I was not nervous – I just really needed the loo. They do not tell you the order of the awards and then you are scared to leave the room. I was waiting for about two hours.”

Eve, of Kitsbury Road, Berkhamsted, kept her acceptance speech short so she would not have to wait any longer.

She was wearing a cat-ear headpiece and fur-trim collar.

She said: “You are not going to compete with actresses with their shiny frocks, so I just thought I would wear something funny.”

Eve was up until 5.30am on Monday celebrating her win and dancing with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Dexter Fletcher. She also spoke to Quentin Tarantino, who she said was ‘charming’, but said Dermot O’Leary was the nicest celebrity she met on the big night.

The next day, she had to be at Pinewood Studios at 7.30am to continue her work as production designer for a sequel to 2011’s The Muppets movie.

She is also up for an Oscar for her work on Les Miserables – the results will be announced on Sunday, February 24.

Eve was previously nominated for a BAFTA for her work as production designer for The King’s Speech. She lost to the production designers of Inception that time.

She was also up for an Oscar for her work on The King’s Speech, but lost to the art directors of Alice in Wonderland.
