SCORES of walkers have signed up for an annual hiking challenge.

They can take on six, 12 or 18 miles at the 43rd Berkhamsted Walk on Sunday, May 8 - where guests are invited to raise sponsorship money for The Children’s Society.

The Complete Outdoors, based in London Road, Borne End, will give prizes including a Paramo waterproof jacket, Chris Brasher walking boots and Leki poles to those who raise the most cash.

Organiser Ann Browning said more than 200 people signed up for the event last year and raised more than £8,000.

Ann said: “Raising sponsorship is your contribution to changing the lives of disadvantaged children in the UK.

“Every child deserves a good childhood.”

The longer walks will begin at The Courthouse in Church Lane, Berkhamsted, with registration from 10am to 11.30am. The six-mile walk begins in front of Ashridge College with registration from 11am to 2pm.

Sponsorship forms are available at The Complete Outdoors and Berkhamsted Library, by phoning 01442 864968, or on www.berkhamstedwalk.com.
