A CARE home has been recognised for its outstanding care for dementia sufferers.

Ashlyns Care Home, in Chesham Road, Berkhamsted, was given a Dementia Care Accreditation by Herts County Council after the group’s assessors spent a day there.

They assessed the home on six professional standards based on work done by the Alzheimer’s Society, including staff training, home policy and the daily lives of people there.

The home scored 99 per cent for its coverage of the six standards.

Manager Diane Delicate said: “It is difficult for families when looking for dementia care for a loved one, to measure how good the care is at a care home.

“With this accreditation we can openly demonstrate that we have been recognised for our outstanding care.”
