Headteacher splatting is a fete favourite for Berkhamsted
12-598 Olympic Fete at Westfield First School, Berkhamsted. Archery for Finlay Branscome, four, and three years old Noah Przygrodzjjy.
THE fun and games at Westfield First School’s summer fete included the all-time favourite splat-a-teacher competition.
Even headteacher Dolores Bennett stepped into the stocks for a good old sponge soaking during the event in Durrants Lane, Berkhamsted, on Saturday.
Archery, javelin and Olympic ring biscuits decorated by the children were other highlights of the event – which this year had an Olympic theme.
Parents Sharon Herdholt and Nell Sparks provided manicures for mummies and there was a plant sale – which “appreciated the hefty but brief downpour,” said mum Becky Plenderleith.
She said: “The hog roast BBQ was a sell out and everyone scoffed ice creams from Elsie’s van.

“The kids got soaked on the Splash Zone – where they squirted each other with super soakers.”
School lollipop lady Carol Buchorski and manager of Two Oaks Pony Sanctuary gave the children pony rides.
There was also a raffle with prizes including a visit to the set of BBC One show Call the Midwife, a course of swimming lessons with Olympic swimmer Karen Pickering and a year’s worth of beauty products from boots.
