Have your say on the future of Berkhamsted’s education
A CONSULTATION about the future of state education in Berkhamsted has been launched.
Everyone who lives in the town is being asked whether they think the town should switch from a three-tier to a two-tier schooling system.
It now has first schools for children aged five to nine, middle schools for those aged nine to 13, and an upper school for older pupils.
That puts Berkhamsted at odds with Hemel Hempstead and Tring, which have primary schools for children younger than 11 and secondary schools for those over 11.
The plan has been mooted by Herts County Council to solve a shortage of reception school places in Berkhamsted.
A second option in the consultation is to build another first school in the Green Belt next to Bridgewater School.
