Harsh words on The X Factor for Tring Park’s Ella from Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger
Ella Henderson
A schoolgirl has made it to the next round of The X Factor – despite her singing being at its worst yet on Saturday’s show, according to ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.
Ella Henderson, 16, who went to Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, sung Bring Me to Life by band Evanescence during the prime-time TV talent show.
But Nicole, a judge for the show, said: “This was my least favourite performance of yours, and that’s hard for me to say.
“I love this song and when I found out you were singing it, I was like totally stoked – and it was just for me the wrong key all the way.
“I felt like that chorus was so epic and it was anti-climactic.”
Fellow judge Gary Barlow said: “Your voice is incredible. It is hard to fault you. The song was not my favourite of yours tonight, but even so you did it proud. You really did a great job.”
Judge Louis Walsh praised her ability to sing in different styles, but criticised the way her hair had been done up in a bun: “The only thing I do not like is your hair.”
Ella said she had aimed to add a more soulful element to the song.
