THE entrepreneur behind a growing jewellery brand puts her success in business down to the tough training she had in Russia to get her ready for the Olympics.

When Debbie Georgiou, who lives on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead, was just 11 years old, she was whisked off to Russia to be coached in rhythmic gymnastics.

Nine-hour days of training and breakfasts that consisted of just one spoon of caviar helped her to record the best total score by a British gymnast at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.

At just 16 years old, she was the youngest competitor that year and nine times British champion.

Now the 36-year-old mum-of-two uses that attitude to grow her company Jinkksy Jewellery.

She said: “It’s a work ethic that has stuck with me for life.

“Hardcore nine-hour-a-day training was very disciplined and that sort of discipline from such a young age sticks with you. Today whenever I do anything I do it 200 per cent and nothing fazes me.

“I honestly believe my success in business has come from the training.”

Debbie, who set up Jinkksy Jewellery 18 months ago, designs and hand makes all of the designs from her home in Water End.

She set up the company on the internet and only used Twitter to promote it.

She quickly amassed more than 27,000 followers and celebrity endorsements from television personalities who loved her designs.

Reality stars Peter Andre and TOWIE’s Amy Childs have all been papped and featured in magazines such as Closer and OK wearing the jewellery.

As a result, Debbie’s life of doing the daily school run has transformed into styling photo shoots and regularly attending star-studded events, as well as helping her children with homework.

She said: “I think that’s why I’m popular on Twitter, because women can relate to me – one minute I’m tweeting about my glamorous life and the next minute, the dog has done a pee in the kitchen!”
