BOOK in for some surreal comedy at Hemel’s Old Town Hall Theatre next Friday, February 3, when Paul Hodson’s Way Out West starring Mike Goodenough and Damien Lyne, pictured above comes to town.
The play centres on two strangers who stand alone in a busy pub.
They chat as they wait and seem to know more about each other than strangers could, or should.
Harry is determined to engage Sam in conversation and matey banter, his jovial and eccentric persona hiding a sad and lonely man.
While Sam’s patient and gentle exterior hides the fact that he is weighed down by grief and denial.
They have both reached a point of no return. Beaten by life individually they’ve decided to bring it to an end.
But before that happens there’s beer to be consumed and odd conversation to be shared.
A few pints in and Harry is convinced he has met Sam before – he remembers a walk, a dance, he knows about Sam’s early life.
Sam has no idea what Harry is talking about, he’s sure he’s never met Harry before – but there is a vague familiarity, and he does seem to know a lot about him.
The show starts at 8pm
