A GIRL has been selected as a national winner of the Lions Peace Poster Contest.

Kate Saunders, 12, and Matthew Bayles, 13, were chosen as winners of the competition in Berkhamsted.

Kate said: “To me, peace means that everyone is respected for who they are, and not judged because of their religion, race or gender.”

Kate said tomorrow’s peace in the hands of today’s children.

Kate’s poster was judged best out of all of the children’s posters in the UK and Ireland Lions competition.

She will now compete at international level and could win £2,500 and an all-expenses paid trip to the United Nations building in New York for herself and two family members.
