Girl sets high benchmark

A selfless girl asked to be given money her birthday so she could donate it all to charity.

Sera Roberts, of Christchurch Road, Tring, invited her whole year 6 class from Bishop Wood school to her 11th birthday party and asked them to give her monetary donations towards a bench for the Hospice of St Francis.

Sera, whose grandfather John Savage volunteers at the hospice, said: "I hope they get a lot of enjoyment out of it."

Her older sister, Elen, who is now 14, also donated her birthday money when she turned 11.
