Getting their act together

Attempting to break into the Guinness Book of World Records is educational charity Act 4, which will be performing at 50 venues in 50 consecutive days - a feat never before achieved by a theatre company.

The Christian theatre group is taking its new play Star Citizen to audiences across the country in a non-stop tour from Monday, June 1 to Monday, July 20.

In this area it can be seen at The Gordon Craig Theatre, in Stevenage, on Monday, June 1, at 10.30am, St Mary's Church. Potters Bar, on the same day, at 2pm.

The Watersmeet Theatre, in Rickmansworth will show it on Tuesday, June 2, at 10am and The Grove , in Dustable, will do a 10am showing on June 16.

The gruelling tour will be the most number of professional performances in different venues in 50 days.

The same cast and technical team will set up, act and de-rig without assistance.

As well as going down in history the world record attempt will ensure thousands of people will have the opportunity to see Star Citizen, which combines drama, music, video and performance art.

It is split into two parts; one which tells the story of the bible from the beginning to the resurrection of Christ, and the other which tells the story of The Good Samaritan.

Audiences will be invited to join in with songs and games in the show, which responds to the negative images of children common in today's media.

The idea is to encourage youngsters to recognise their potential and motivate them to become positive forces within their communities.

Aspects of the national curriculum, particularly in relation to citizenship and religious education are also included.

Star Citizen is the start of what Act 4 hopes will be an ongoing relationship with schools and community groups.
