Marcia Cosby is the director of Kent Brushes, which has had its iconic headquarters in London Road, Apsley, for more than 100 years. Still a family-run business, it traded as GB Kent and Sons from its inception 1777 and is one of the oldest established companies in the country.
What is your favourite food?
A beautiful green salad, which I could eat with every meal.
What’s the most played song on your iPod?
Martin Harley singing Carnival Girl.
Your favourite quote?
Fortune favours the bold.
Favourite thing to do to relax?
To walk through the countryside.
Thing you hate doing the most?
Putting roof insulation up!
Invite five famous people for dinner, past or present - who and why?
Hillary Clinton, Julie Walters, Juliette Binoche, David Cameron and Prince Charles. I’m sure it’d be a very interesting dinner!
Your Favourite place to go?
I like to cycle the towpath from Berkhamsted to Hemel Hempstead. It’s lovely with the fisherman, birds and narrowboats.
If the world was ending in 2014, what would you do differently?
Nothing really, I’m lucky enough to have a happily family and live in a safe country.
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be and why?
The breaking down of the Berlin Wall.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Blue Peter presenter.
What was the last film you watched?
A subtitled French film which I watched on a flight to Dubai to visit a hair and beauty show for Kent.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
A full time course whilst taking four children to different schools, running a home and working.
What’s the best/worst gift you’ve ever given/received?
A new Audi on a very big birthday.
How would you like to be remembered?
I’d like to be remembered as being a good Mummy and Granny whilst having done my best to promote Kent Brushes, archiving the documents and brushes acquired over the 238 years since it was formed.
