Police and crime commissioner David Lloyd has no short-term plans to replace his former deputy, who resigned amid Twitter controversy in February.

Rachel Frosh stepped down from the two day a week £20,000 post after she was criticised for retweeting a Nazi-themed post on the social networking site. She was suspended from the Conservative candidates list by the party’s campaign headquarters while the facts of her case were investigated.

She has since been restored to the list and has made a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission over Daily Mail coverage of her story.

Commissioner Lloyd, now lining up a new chief executive officer following another resignation from his office, said: “I want to get a new chief executive settled in first, and then I can decide what other help I might or might not need.

“There is no certainty that I will have a deputy but I may well decide I do want one. However, this will not be within the next month.”
