A FORMER mayor has given £3,000 to The Hospice of St Francis.

Julie Laws, who handed over the Berkhamsted Town Council title to Carol Green in May, made the cash at a charity fundraiser.

The event at Deans Hall in Berkhamsted School, which marked the end of her term as mayor, was cheaper than staging a formal dinner in Berkhamsted Town Hall.

This helped her raise more cash for the hospice, which is off Shootersway in Northchurch.

Mrs Laws said: “It is a pleasure to be donating to this wonderful organisation. My thanks go to all connected with the hospice for their work and dedication.”
