Visitors to the base in Welwyn Garden City could browse more than 60 stands, enjoy talks, demonstrations and tours of the force’s communications room.

They also got to meet police dogs, firearms officers and see inside police vehicles.

Chief Constable Andy Bliss said: “I’m delighted that so many people came to see how their constabulary and our partners work to help keep them safe.

“It was a fantastic day and I really enjoyed taking the opportunity to meet and talk with many of the people who came.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in making the day such a very great success.”

Visitors also donated several hundreds of pounds on the day to the joint police and fire service charity, Herts in Trust.
