A TOWN council clerk rang the bell to signal the start of her final meeting.

Tring’s council chamber was filled with councillors and former mayors to bid farewell to Susan Johnson, after 21 years service.

Mayor of Tring Roxanne Ransley said: “I have found her extremely loyal to Tring. She has brought dignity to that post and also to the town council.

“Thank you on behalf of all the councillors and past mayors.”

Mrs Johnson said: “I have been very privileged and proud to have been clerk, especially for 21 years.

“I would like to think I have played my part in the things that have happened over the years.”
