Homes and businesses including a dog rescue centre have been left without phone lines since the weekend after a tree fell across an aerial cable.
BT says that 12 properties in Chivery, near Tring are affected. The Chilterns Dog Rescue Centre has had its calls diverted to a mobile phone.
A spokesman for BT said: “We are in the process of carrying out a full assessment to plan works needed to restore services, and we will know more on timescales once that has been completed.
“It is likely that we will have to re-set three poles and replace five spans of aerial cabling to repair the damage that has been caused.”
