NEIGHBOURS say a historic home has been allowed to fall into wrack and ruin by developers who said they were going to use the site for new homes.

Anne Duvall, a neighbour of 17th century New Lodge in Bank Mill Lane Berkhamsted, said: “The building is being vandalised by people who turn up in trucks.

“Children go in there and smash things up, and if nothing gets done before the summer holidays, it could get set on fire.”

She says it is now a litter hotspot, and neighbours including Sheila Crocker – both are pictured right – now hate it.

Dacorum Borough Council says it could force developers to clean the mess up if it gets much worse.
