Ella denies rumours of an X Factor romance

The X Factor’s Gabriella Henderson – called Ella on the prime time television talent show – has denied she is falling for fellow contestant and Union J boy-band member George Shelley.

Reports of flirtation between the pair have been all over celebrity magazines and tabloid newspapers, but the 16-year-old said on Saturday’s show that they are just ‘best friends’.

She giggled when questioned about good-looking George, 18, but said: “Me and George have got so much in common with each other.

“Yes, we do spend a lot of time with each other, but I do not get why that has to be The X Factor romance, because it’s really not.”

Ella, a former student at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, wowed judges – and singing sensation Adele – with her rendition of Minnie Julia Riperton’s 1975 hit Lovin’ You on Saturday.

Chart-topping Adele later wrote on Twitter: “Ella Henderson on X Factor is absolutely incredible! I LOVE her!! Good luck xx”

Ella is an early favourite to win the show and already has 222,746 followers on Twitter and 35,025 likes on her Facebook fan page.
