Schools taken over by fiction

SCHOOLS across Dacorum celebrated World Book Day.

Children at Abbot’s Hill School, Hemel Hempstead, and Victoria First School, Berkhamsted, dressed up as their favourite book characters last Thursday.

Among the characters brought to life were well known faces from Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter’s Hogwarts and teachers got dressed up too.

The Berkhamsted youngsters raised £100 for the Mobile Camel Library, which transports books to remote parts of Africa.

The school’s headteacher Claire Bull said: “The children always love dressing up - this helped them appreciate how lucky we are to have access to books.”

Elsewhere pupils at Kings Langley School had a Doctor Who-inspired day of activities.
